Variable Message Signs

These signs are used to convey different messages to travelers. These include information related to crashes, traffic delays, detours, alternative routes and special events. These devices are typically connected to a power source and phone line; some newer models are solar powered making it possible to place them virtually anywhere. The message and control systems are usually wireless.
